Pinned It, Did It Monday! {felt nativity and giveaway}

giveaway Welcome to Pinned It, Did It Monday.  This is the place where I share some of the things I’ve done around here that have been inspired by Pinterest.   pin #1I have been wanting to do something like this for awhile this Christmas season.  Most people are making these adorable felt Christmas trees for the kids to decorate.  And don’t make this feel bad.  I would have done a Christmas tree.  Really.  Except I had all the big pieces of brown, but no big piece of green.  So I went with the nativity instead so I could keep the cost of this free for me.

My Pictures:  Please excuse the awful flash pictures.  It’s been a dreary weekend!IMG_9297 IMG_9294 IMG_9295 My review:  This is amazing!  She has every single piece on the pattern for you.  So all I did was print and cut and glue.  There was no cow, so of course I had to find another pattern for him because our stable needs a cow. :)  He played with it a ton and especially liked the presents the wise men had.  Don’t mind how bubbly the stable looks, I just attached it with tape for short term.  Tomorrow I’m off to the store to find a more “temporary permanent” way.  I look forward to reading the Christmas story and acting it out.  My mom also used the pattern to cut them out for their Sunday School.

But wait, have you made it this far?  Do you want a felt nativity set for your house?!  For free?!  I’m serious!

All you have to do is leave a comment on this post and tell me what your favorite holiday tradition is in your family.  And you will be entered to win a felt nativity set made by me.  You won’t get much use out of it before Christmas this year as it will get to right around then.  But next year, it will be all ready to pull out and attach to the wall.

So leave a comment.  Come on, do it.  I know I have a lot of silent readers out there.  :) The giveaway will be open until this Thursday, December 13th at midnight.  Friday morning, I’ll pick and announce one winner. Good luck!

  1. Super cute, Emily!

    My favorite is getting hot cocoa (or peppermint mocha now that I'm a grown up, yum!) and driving around to look at Christmas lights while listening to Christmas music.

  2. Yay, I love it!

    Our town has a live nativity that we go to every year. It's pretty funny because it's usually just 2 long horned sheep and an alpaca. So accurate, right? The church that runs it also has cookies/cocoa and crafts indoors so that's always fun.

  5. Emma would have a lot of fun with a felt nativity set... and I'm a hopelessly incompetent crafter!

    My new favorite Christmas tradition is going to see a live nativity with the girls. We went to two in town this year!

    One of my favorite holiday traditions is waiting at the top of the stairs until Daddy sees if Santa came! The anticipation is killer! :-)

  8. My favorite holiday tradition is going to a church service on Christmas Eve with family and playing games and opening our secret Santa stockings with family on Christmas! Although, Christmas Eve will be different this year as I'm on strict bed rest pregnant with twins and hoping I can make it to early February until they are born! I've seen the felt tree idea on Pinterest but love this idea even more. It's a wonderful way to teach our children the true meaning of Christmas!

  11. I love it! I saw this on Pinterest and think it is such a great idea! Would love to have one for nieces/nephews, and future kiddos. :)
    I remember playing with the nativity when I was a kid. My mom said she would find baby Jesus all over the house in various places.
    My favorite tradition as a kid was brunch on Christmas day. We invited people over to our house who didn't have family living close by. I love that my parents were willing to invite people over who may have otherwise been lonely on Christmas. :)

  19. I feel as though Christmas traditions have been changing a ton for me in the last ten years. But I think my favorite thing is putting up Christmas lights. I've done it even if we don't have a tree. And I like to put them all over the house.

  21. First of all...I am a little freaked out that you know two Erin Bradshaw's!! I started thinking I already commented on this...but then I started reading and realized that I did not write that!!
    Anyway, my favorite tradition is simply going to the tree farm to pick out a Christmas tree, and then having fun decorating it together as a family. Such a sweet time with sweet memories. :)
