Today was a super fun day on the go. Owen does absolutely wonderful in his car seat, so I carted him all over town today. First, we had to get him into a cute outfit since he would be seeing tons of people today.
First, we went to Panera to meet Summer, Lillian, and Izzie. Izzie was quite excited to show me all the things she had just got at the dentist. They were adorable to watch with Owen and it was great to catch up with Summer. I miss living in the same town!
They were so good during lunch!Owen loves all these ladies:
After lunch, I headed out to church so we could see Grammy. It had been a few days and she needed an Owen fix. We hung out in the prayer room so he could eat and I couldn't resist taking a few pictures on the orange sofa that matched his outfit. Aren't the tennis shoes adorable!? He always has such a serious look on his face!

Tuesday, June 29
Today the Brad and Charlee (and of course Micah and Caleb) came over and brought us delicious enchiladas. Charlee, I really want that recipe! We miss hanging out with these guys and their adorable boys in small group. Hopefully, we'll get to hang out with them more this summer!
Micah is a great big brother, can't you tell!?
Later in the evening, we decided it was time to test out the bottle! I've been trying to pump a little each day to try and start building a stash. Owen downed 2 ounces like a champ. I think William's excited to be able to have a little daddy feeding time. I think we'll try to give him a bottle every other day or so just to be sure he keeps on liking them!

randoms
His first real bath. Unlike the first sponge bath, he seemed to really enjoy it as long as kept pouring water over him to keep him warm. Although note to self, as soon as the washcloth comes off, the pee will come.He seems to enjoy his tummy time. I've got to catch him on video holding his head up. He thinks he's pretty strong!

Pentwater!
Every year, my family heads north to Pentwater, MI. This year was the 20th anniversary. It is so hard to believe we've been going there for that many years! This is a picture from that first year. The shirts this year was a replica of this first shirt.
So suffice to say, we've grown up there. I think I'm so close with my family due in large part to this yearly vacation. My cousins and I have grown up there. There are tons of traditions and sayings that newbies need a manual to get up to speed on all that happens on this vacation. We decided that we were brave enough to take our 2 week old since it is the last year. We learned very quickly that we may need a minivan sooner than later. Who knew a newborn could need so much stuff?! The drive took a little longer than normal because of the stops so Owen could eat, but we made it in about 7 hours!
Usually our days consist of laying on the beach. So things were a little different this year. I decided I didn't want to take Owen down to the beach because of the sand, wind, and bugs. So my mom got to spend some time (which we're not sure she enjoyed at all :) while we went down in 1-2 hour shifts.
I tried to take a few pictures of the actual house since it's the last time we'll be there. This is part of the main room. At any point in the day, you can find tons of people reading trash magazines, tons of candy wrappers strewn around, and maybe even some mice in those couches that have been there since day 1 of us coming there. :)There are 2 pathways down to the beach with 100+ steps down. Makes for quite a trip for all the people with lots of kiddos and beach bags.
As you get to the bottom of the stairs, there is this little bridge. Then it's up and over one dune to get to the beach!
The view as you come over the final dune looking out towards our beach and Lake Michigan.
Every year, we all put on our t-shirts and head to a location and try to corral the crew for family and a group picture. Here's a few shots from that.
My two favorite guys. Owen's shirt was the original. It was my little brother, Casey's.

I don't think it will really hit until next summer that this is our last year. Usually at the start of June, the talk begins of the shirt designs, what room everyone's getting, and starting the shopping for all the junk food. It will definitely feel like something is missing next summer. Here's a link to the amazing slideshow that my brother made of the last 2o years. Thank you to my grandparents for 20 years of amazing memories! I am so blessed to be a part of this amazing family!

Today was a big day for Owen. In the morning, he got to meet Susan! We just love when people think he's as adorable as we do. :) Thanks so much Susan for the diapers and wipes. You didn't need to do that on top of the awesome shower gift you got him!
Then, it was time for our first trip to the library! I plan on being there a lot with our little guy, so might as well get started early! At the hospital, we got a cute package with a book and a certificate for another book if we came to the library. He also will get a book dedicated to him. Aww. Of course, he was oohed and ahhed at by some nice ladies but slept through the whole thing!

being organzied
I'm learning quickly that I love schedules and being organized when it comes to Owen. I know, shocker right? Summer made fun of the clipboard I was using when she came over, but it was what I lived by those first few days. I loved knowing when he ate, what side, and what kind of poops he was producing. Here's a link to the chart I made. It didn't save the cute clipart or fonts. Ohh well.
But now, I live my the IPhone app called Total Baby. It does quite a few things, but I mostly use it for keeping track of nursing. You can export all the data to Excel then. I do love my spreadsheets. :) My dad wondered out loud how they raised kids without IPhones since I use it for games, Facebook, and email while nursing, playing songs to Owen, and use this app for every feeding. Love it!

Today Anne brought us an amazing meal! Salad with yummy fruit, delicious lasagna, and some kind of brownie/cookie combo that I polished off in about a day. What were those Anne?! We are so thankful to these guys and have missed hanging out with them more regularly now that our small group is over. Anne gives some awesome prayer if you ever need it! :)
It's so hard to believe Alex is a year! Where does the time go?Anne was teaching him how to pray :)

Happy Father's Day to the two best dads I know. I am so thankful for having such an awesome dad. I had a hard time writing his father's day card without bawling. I love my dad so much and am so blessed to have such a great example of what it means to follow Jesus. And then my hubby. Wow. This last week and half, I've been utterly amazed as I watched my husband turn into a father. He's never been around kids much, let alone changed a diaper. But he's a natural. He's changed more diapers than me and has even been getting up with me in the middle of the night to laundry or the dishes. He fiercely loves our little man and I have never been more in love with him!
Today was also Owen's first day of going to church! It was so much fun showing him off to everyone! Thanks to Michelle for the adorable outfit. It got tons of compliments!

Sunday evening, we all headed over to mom and dad's for a dinner (sorry you had to grill yourself dad) and a few gifts.

Thursday, June 17 (still behind I know)
Happy one week birthday little man!! I cannot believe quickly that week went by. And I already don't remember what my life was like without Owen in it! Today was a super busy and fun day! The Melby's came over and brought us lunch. We love hanging out with this great family and I can't wait to spend more time with them and doing all the fun things Holly finds to do around town.
Then, we decided to brave the heat and go for our first walk! We only made it a few blocks before we realized it was way too hot to be out walking! I love love love our stroller! It's super easy to maneuver, even with one hand!
We hung out a little with William's parents in the afternoon.
Thursday evening, we went over to my mom and dad's. Duane and William went and picked up Hickory River barbecue! It's not Texas barbecue, but it's still pretty darn good. And after dinner and a good feed, when I went to change Owen. . .his cord fell off! Not bad, 7 days. I've heard of it taking a lot longer. There's still some more parts to heal, but we're getting closer to taking a real bath!
