Happy Anniversary!

It's hard to believe that 6 years ago, we were taking these pictures on one of the happiest days of my life: Yes, my flowers weren’t quite what I had envisioned.  And my cake was a disaster (thank you P, C, A, and A for not letting me know about that until I saw it fixed).  And there are pictures I regret not taking, etc.  But at the end of the day, I was married to William.  And that’s been one of the best decisions I ever made.

Tonight, we headed out to where we had our rehearsal dinner, Radio Maria.  This was still in our minds one of the best dinners we ever ate.  It was such a fun night filled with (lots of) wine, good food, and fabulous friends.  Here was the little menu I made for that evening:IMG_5742 And a few shots of us:14IMG_5746 And William’s plate.  Which I’m glad I took a picture of because after tonight’s dinner, I can for surely say the prices have gone up and the portions have gotten smaller. :)IMG_7073But it was still delicious!  IMG_0576 After dinner, we walked over to Cream and Flutter for amazing coffee and cupcakes.  And then we stayed outside a bit enjoying the C/U Music Festival.IMG_0570And then we (hangs head in shame) went to Lowe’s and Target.  And yes, we bought stuff for the kids.IMG_0573But it was so nice to have real conversation and not get up five million times in the middle of my meal.  And just fun hanging out with my main squeeze.

Happy Anniversary William!  I love you so much more than I did then.  Here’s to many years more!blog-signature-1

5 Reasons for 5 Years

261This past Friday, William and I celebrated our 5th anniversary.  I told him it feels like it was yesterday, but also feels like he’s always been in my life.  So in honor of our 5 years, I thought I’d share 5 reasons why I love him.  (Of course, there’s lots more than five such as he loves God, duh!)146#1 – He just “is that into me.”  (Have you read that book or seen the movie?)  Well, I’m lucky because I found a man who just IS that into me!  I am so blessed to have a man that is madly in love with me and all my craziness.  He gets me.  He encourages my dreams and passions.  When asked once if he wanted to be a pastor/speaker, he said “nope, I’m just going to go set up Emily’s chairs.”  It has steadied me much to be married to him.150#2 – He is a true gentleman.  They sure know how to raise ‘em in Texas.  Now I know that women don't NEED to have their door opened for them, or their chair pulled out, but it sure makes me feel special when they are done.   He goes the extra mile to treat me like a lady.  And he’s got his ways with the older ladies too. :)  It’s nice to know that chivalry is not dead.167#3 - He is a great father.  It's not rare to find him on the floor wrestling with Owen or playing cars and trains.  He handles his share of dirty diapers and getting splashed at bath time.  He's quick to say "I love you", give them kisses, and has amazing patience with them.  I’m lucky to be on this parenting journey with him!
212#4 - He helps around the house. Not only does he do the outside work, but he is great about helping inside too.  Dishes, floors, laundry, cleaning up my piles... He does it all willingly.  He is the handy man extraordinaire and can fix most anything.  He has no idea how safe this makes me feel.  It also makes me feel safe that he checks all the doors multiple times before going to bed. :)231#5 - He takes AMAZING care of our family.  There have been multiple times in the past when he hated loathed his job.  But I am so thankful to have a husband who is willing to do whatever he has to do to take care of us, and works hard so that I can stay at home with our kids.  I don’t tell him this enough.252#6 – He has really good taste. (ok, I know this is one more than five).  But I love this about him.  I mean, he married me right?  Just kidding.  I know this seems shallow, but I love that he has really high end, good taste.  When we go shopping, we always agree on things.  He doesn’t mind making our spaces as nice looking as we can on a budget.  He appreciates when I find cute clothes for the kids.  He always looks nice! :)255Ok, I’ll stop.  But really, being married to this man is pretty awesome.  I love him more everyday.  I cannot wait to see what God has in store for us next.  Thank you William for pursing me.  It didn’t take long for me to realize how great of a catch you were.  Happy 5 years!!828

Happy Anniversary!

Yesterday was William and mine 4th anniversary! It feels like it's been so much longer than that (as in I've known him forever) and yet also like it went by in a blink of an eye. We agreed to not spend any money on each other since we're saving for a list a mile-long of house stuff. But I still wanted to do something small. I've seen this idea all over craft blogland and Pinterest. Quick sidenote, if you're not on Pinterest, go. But be warned it will suck your life time away.  So here's what I did: a 52 things things I love about you booklet.

Supplies:
  • deck of 52 playing cards (I also used the 2 jokers for my front and back cover)
  • 2 metal book rings
  • some way to write on the cards
 What I did:
  1. I started by punching holes in all the cards using one card for my template.
  2. I used this lovely blog's template for my cover and back plate.
  3. Then I just created text boxes in word and typed out 52 things I love about William.
  4. I printed it on sticker paper, cut them out, and slapped one on each card.  You could easily print them on regular paper and glue them.  Or print on mailing labels. Or just hand-write directly on the cards.  Whatever suits your fancy.
  5. Then clip all the cards together and give to your sweetie.  It's a fun little thing he can look back at when he's having a rough day. :)
I was going to write out my list of 52 things, but then I realized that's just for him.  So here's just a few of the things I wrote:

We had an amazing dinner at Kofusion which is where we had our first date and where he introduced me to the wonderful world of sushi. Yum. Then we went all crazy and went to Target. Wow, are we old married folk or what? Thanks to my sister who watched Owen while we were gone. And I literally mean watched as in watched him on the video monitor since I put him to bed before we left. :)

*ETA - he did wake up once for her, so I do want to credit her for getting my wiggle worm back to sleep.
