Owen's new ride

So for awhile now, William has really wanted to get Owen a power wheels car.  I'm been strongly opposed.  Because really?!  What 3 year old needs his own set of wheels?  Doesn't he need to be running and maybe riding a bike?  But then I saw this posting on the C/U Garage Sale page.  It was a lady I used to teach with in Rantoul.  I emailed her immediately and after agreeing on an even lower price than she asked, we made plans to drive to her house after naptime.

Owen was SO excited.  It wasn't charged up and I think he about died when I told him it wouldn't be ready until the next day.  So we spent a little time cleaning his car up and pretending to fill up the tires and give it some gas.  He had fun pushing all the buttons and pretending to drive.

Finally the next day, he got to go for a drive.  This isn't his first run, but as you can tell, he's in some desparate need for some driver's ed.  But he loves his new wheels.  And I think William is enjoying living vicariously through his son. :)

Pinned It, Did It Monday {food tricks & a little bag}

pinned itWhat is this you say?!  Welcome back to Pinned It, Did It Monday.  Just for this week folks.  And maybe you’ll see this pop up a little more this summer as our schedule is just full of fun things!  If you’re new to the blog (welcome!) Pinned It, Did It Monday is where I share a few of the things I’ve actually DONE from Pinterest.  It’s a site that can suck you into hours of just looking at good ideas.   But I want someplace to be accountable to actually doing some of them. :)pin #1Picture I pinned:
Source: The Fastest Way to Peel Garlic from Holiday Sparkle
My review: No picture for me on this one, but you will  definitely want to click on this pin or link and follow the simple directions.  I was shocked that I literally had an entire head of garlic peeled in minutes.  It definitely worked and so simple.  I love garlic, but hate the time it takes to peel it, so I will use this over and over!pin #2As summer is upon us, we love us some good sweet corn.  But I do hate the process of shucking it and getting all those pesky hairs off.  Then I saw this idea.  And my life will never be the same.
Picture I Pinned:

My picture:Picture 643
My review: Ummm. . .amazing!!  I simply followed all the directions and in just a few minutes, and only one cut with my knife, I had perfectly cooked sweet corn with none of the mess.  It cooks in the microwave, in the husk, and then slides out with a little help.  How am I just now figuring this out.  Seriously, if you eat corn on the cob, follow these directions!!pin 3As a car-loving boy, Owen always has problems of carrying his most loved cars (of the hour) from one place to another.  We carry them from room to room and upstairs and down after nap.  So I wanted a quick easy bag for him to throw some cars in.

Touch A Truck

Well, according to all my local friends who blog, this is the event to be blogging about tonight!  Haha.

But it IS one of our favorite city wide events.  And as Owen is into all things that go, he had tons of fun.  Probably not as much fun as some kids as he was too scared to climb in any of the trucks and had a melt down from super obnoxious army tank with loud honking.  But besides that, it was a blast!

We got there early for a good parking spot and by passed the fire truck as we had just been to the firestation.  Our goal was the city bus as he's been loving buses lately.  After the bus, we just walked around and just looked at and touched a few other trucks and then enjoyed some yummy ice cream before running into some friends.  All in all, a great way to spend a beautiful morning!

it took come convincing for him to walk down

cars cars

Someday I will walk around my house and not see these little piles of cars all over my house. Have you ever stepped on a match box car? Ouch. But I love that everywhere I look, I see little snippets of what my sweet boy is currently in love with!

2 going on 16?

Owen's newest obsession is with "driving."  He loves to sit in the front seat of the van and push every button and make car noises.  He's rolling in his swag wagon. :)
